CHÄSTEILET

The Chästeilet was held for the first time in 1999. At that time, it still had a few beer tables. There was also a small drinks tent and a barbecue on the Eigerhubel.

The festival was such a success that the very next year the Chästeilet was held on the ice rink, the current location.

The "schnapps idea" of the regular chef's table has developed into the second largest event in Wengen after the Lauberhorn races. Today we welcome between 1000 and 1300 visitors every year. The barbecue is still there, but the range has been expanded to include rösti, roast veal and other delicacies from Wengen's hotels and restaurants. A bar has now also been established.

Die Kernidee der Chästeilet ist es den einheimischen Älplern eine Möglichkeit zu geben ihren Käse zu verkaufen. In Wengen kann man dazu Kuhaktionär werden. Was es mit der Kuhaktie auf sich hat, erfahren Sie hier. An der Chästeilet wechseln so jedes Jahr ca. 1,3 Tonnen Alpkäse den Besitzer.
